On his 9th birthday John David requested money instead of presents.
He then donated all of his birthday money to the Washington County Fraternal Order of Police "Shop with a Cop" Program.
His selfless act allowed children to receive presents who may not have otherwise gotten anything.

On Friday, October 31, 2008, these five civilians and a Washington County deputy risked their own lives
 when they jumped into the river without hesitation and rescued a teenager after he drove off a bridge and into the water. 
The teenager is alive today because of their selfless actions.
