The chief executive officer for County government in Arkansas is the County Judge. As chief executive, the Judge authorizes and approves the disbursement of all appropriated County funds, operates the system of County roads, administers ordinances enacted by the quorum court, has custody of County property, accepts grants from federal, state, public and private sources, hires County employees except those persons employed by other elected officials of the County, and presides over the quorum court without a vote, but with the power of veto.

The Washington County Judge oversees Animal Shelter, Archives, Building and Grounds, Comptroller, County Attorney, County Library, Emergency Management, Environmental Affairs, Grants, Human Resources, Information Systems, Juvenile Detention, Planning, Purchasing, Road and Veteran's Affairs Departments.

  • Burn Ban Burn Ban Washington County Judge Marilyn Edwards issued a BURN BAN for Washington County on February 18, 2014. The current conditions are extremely dry in the county. ALL outside burning is banned in Washington County until further notice.
  • Public Notice for Review of Audit In accordance with A-133 Audit requirements, the citizens of Washington County are notified that an audit of federal funds received by Washington County has been completed and is available for public review.
