With a few exceptions, Washington County's Land Records (deeds, mortgages, affidavits, and other instruments pertaining to real estate transactions) begin in 1834. Land Records can be accessed through a series of Grantee (Reverse/Buyer) and Grantor (Direct/Seller) Index Books. Also, since 2008, the Archives, with help of the Circuit Clerk, Assessor, and IT Department,  has made it possible to search and view all land records created through 1991 online. (For records created since 1992, it is necessary to go through the Circuit Clerk's Office.)  Land Records include, but are not limited to, the following:
