Ordinance 37 of 2003 requires the seller of any residential or commercial property in Washington County to obtain a certificate from the Washington County Health Department stating that the septic system is approved. If the property does not have a structure, a certificate is required showing that the land has been tested and approved for the installation of a septic system.
- This ordinance applies only to property in the unincorporated areas of Washington County.
- Septic system inspections are approved by Environmental Health Specialists of the Washington County Health Department, 521-8181 ext 2.
- If neither the seller nor buyer intend to build a structure on the property, a waiver may be filled with the Office of Environmental Affairs. See Ordinance 37, page 3.
