The growth of population in Washington County has caused the traffic flow to grow. With this growth the need for more hard surface roads has increased.

The cost to widen the right -of-way and reconstruct an existing road is over $190,000.00 per mile.

In some cases a road may be improved by using the existing right-of-way with very little cut and fill, but the cost still exceeds $90,000.00 per mile.

The goal of the Road Department is to continue to maintain our gravel roads as efficiently as possible and to resurface paved roads as our budget allows.

Above all the Road Department is committed to making all Washington County roads a safe and friendly driving experience for everyone.
