Welcome to the
Washington County Road Department web site.
As your elected County
Judge, one of the most important responsibilities legislated to this
office is the construction and maintenance of county roads and bridges.
In that effort, it is our goal to provide the safest and most efficient
road system possible. Currently the Washington County Road Department
maintains 408 miles of paved roads and 524 miles of gravel roads, and is
ranked as one of the largest county road systems in the State of
Arkansas.
We believe Washington County’s Road Department is
also among the best in the State of Arkansas. The department is
headquartered in a facility
which has been developed and constructed to meet the specific needs of
our growing county road system.
Currently the Washington County Road Department
is comprised of 80 county employees, and is supervised by Donnie Coleman
and Shawn Shrum who have a combined roadwork experience of more than 15
years.
Washington County currently owns and operates a
county limestone pit and gravel crusher on the western side of the
county, and plans are under way to lease property on the east side of
Washington County for another limestone pit to produce gravel for our
roads.
My goal for the Washington County Road Department
is to provide the best and fastest service possible to all the citizens
of the county within budget restraints.
Please know that you are welcome to contact me at
any time, should the need arise regarding service from our fine road
department.
