Outline for Wind Subcommittee Meetings over the next six- seven months

 

First Meeting

Discuss broad overview of commercial wind development.  Talk about differences between a base development ordinance and using a CUP process. 

Second Meeting

Discussion with utility company representatives regarding understanding of wind power and how it will work with the existing electric grid.

Third Meeting

Discussion of environmental issues (birds, bats, etc., what sorts of studies are already required by state and federal agencies, and whether we need additional studies).  Hoping to have representatives at the meeting from state or federal agencies in regards to these issues.

Fourth Meeting

Visit to a wind farm.

Fifth Meeting

In-depth discussion and tweaking of development ordinance to date

Sixth Meeting

Discussion of zoning for wind as a use by right in some portions of the County.  Discussions of using the CUP process. 

Seventh Meeting

A consensus of CUP/Zoning for wind farms; a consensus on draft of development ordinance.
