Elkins and Lincoln Recycling

 

Containers - please rinse containers to remove food residue and remove lids.

·  Aluminum Cans—Rinse

·  Steel Cans—Rinse and remove food residue. 
    Metal lids from steel cans and glass bottles can be placed inside the cans.

·  Glass Jars & Bottles—Rinse
    Separate by color—clear, green, and brown.
    NO lids
    NO drinking glasses, dishes, Pyrex, light bulbs, or window glass.


Plastic - please rinse plastic bottles and remove lids.

·  Plastic Bottles—Must have a neck smaller than the bottom. 

Plastics must be separated into one of the 3 following categories.
Look for the code on the bottom of the bottle


PETE

#1 Plastic Bottles
Includes soda and water bottles and peanut butter jars


HDPE

Clear #2 Bottles
Milk & water jugs


HDPE

Colored #2 Bottles
Liquid detergent, shampoo, and other colored bottles

NO margarine, yogurt, or other tubs.


Paper - must be kept dry.

·  Mixed Paper & Magazines— May be loose or in paper bags
   Includes the following types of paper: computer, stationery, white bond, fax, copy, notebook, colored, slick-coated, junk mail, manila file
   folders, manuals with staples, accordion-style folders, envelopes (plastic windows are ok).  
   NO paper plates or cups
   NO milk or juice cartons
   NO frozen food containers
   NO egg cartons

·  Newspaper— May be loose or in paper bags.

·  Chipboard—Includes cereal and shoe boxes.

·  Cardboard & Brown Grocery Bags


During inclement weather, rural recycling will be cancelled for that week if the county courthouse is closed.
