Free Sharps Container Program The Washington
County Environmental Affairs & Recycling Office is excited to announce
the start of a NEW Free Sharps Container Disposal Program. This program
will offer free quart size sharps containers to residents.
Free containers can be picked up at local participating pharmacies,
the Washington County Health Department and the Washington County Court
House. Residents will
then be able to take their full containers to one of the Household
Hazardous Waste Drop-Off Facilities in the county.
Each year millions of people self-administer billions of home injections. The majority of these are for diabetes, allergies, arthritis and other sorts of ailments. Many people are unaware of the safe needle disposal programs that are available to them. We are hoping this program will help bridge that gap.
