9-1-1 is the emergency telephone number for your city.  We want to show you how to call 9-1-1  in case you ever need help from the Fire Department, Police Department or an Ambulance.

WHEN DO I CALL 911

To help someone who is hurt and needs help.
If you smell smoke or see a fire.
If you see someone stealing something or hurting someone.
If you need help fast for any reason.

DON'T CALL 911

Don't call 911 to ask questions or Play a Joke.

HOW DO I MAKE AN EMERGENCY CALL TO 911

Stay Calm. Don't get excited.  Take a deep breath, and relax.
Tell the person who answers the phone what is wrong like this: "My house is on fire." "I am hurt very badly; I can't move." " I  hear a noise outside my back door and see a shadow through the window." "A stranger told me to get in their car and I ran away."
Give the exact address of the emergency.  Remember to give the full address, even the apartment number.
Give the phone number and address you are calling from.
Give you name.
DO NOT HANG UP until the police officers, fire fighters and paramedics find you .
If you cannot remember 9-1-1, or are experiencing a technical problem, dial "0" for the operator.

OTHER IMPORTANT NEWS ABOUT  911

A person who calls 9-1-1 and faints or cannot talk, can be found because of the special way 9-1-1 works here.  We will send help to the place they called from.
